"We present the second edition of Suite*, the alliance between La Caja and LEA, both spaces dedicated to disseminating contemporary art. They have decided to build a place dedicated to specific and ephemeral installation disciplines. It takes place in a particular room inside La Caja and is for artists from the LEA community, with risky and disruptive projects.
This time, we have the work of Ana Poveda: "No en-caja (IRL), si en-caja (URL)." It is a physical/virtual Site-specific installation, an augmented reality made with paint, cardboard, digital photography, and fabric.
Something does not fit a space, a simulation, some actions, some actions of what could be, an ax that cuts the cardboard, everything contained in PNG. This piece seeks to poetize a space that does not fit, a space in the middle of everything, playing an ambiguous role: a space that was thought of as a storage room, as an elevator, as a countless number of things that failed to germinate there.
As if we were playing the Sims, ideas were projected, and later knocked down, leaving this hollow space in the middle of everything. This is how a cardboard ax cuts from within (metaphorically) the space that contains it and will continue cutting virtually to infinity. This is how I project not fitting in.
Ana's work is based on the superposition of IRL (real life) images vs URL (virtual resources), emphasizing the use of resources found on PNG pages that speak of the artificial nature of a virtualized reality. It is the story of a world where everything is possible. However, everything is subject to distortion and mutation. Ana was designed as a mute device that, like her cloud cur-tains, harmoniously and elegantly cushions the clash of materials, images, densities, textures, and irreconcilable experiences. However, as psychoanalysis affirms, the body is breath and voice, and the voice, sooner or later, emerges."
